Dear Dr. Spray

Dear Dr. Spray,

Three years ago today, you operated on our Grace.  She was so tiny, so cute and so sick.  

She was just barely 10 pounds.  Her heart was the size of a strawberry.  

You are well over 6' tall.  

Your hands could easily palm a basketball.

Yet you were able to repair the inner chambers of that strawberry heart that, as you told us, was laid out like none you had yet encountered.  

We are in awe of the skill you acquired to do what you do.

We are in awe of the choice you made to do THESE types of surgeries every day, on tiny hearts, with such great risk.  

We are in awe of your ability to think on your feet, and take the anatomy in front of you and make it work, even if you've never seen such anatomy before.  

Because of your gift, our girl is enjoying being a big sister.

And going to school.

And lighting up our lives.
