They Really Do Grow Up Fast

You hear every parent say it about their kids..."they grow up so fast".

Early on with Grace, it felt like the opposite.  Grace was born at 6 lbs., 3 oz. and it took her almost four months to hit the 10 pound mark.  Throw in open heart surgery a month later, and she finally conquered double digits on the scale for good at exactly the five month mark.

And then there's Sadie.

She's not even a month old, and she's already 10 lbs. 10 ounces....and growing.

We're seeing some serious rapid development, too.

At the doctor's office last week, she laid on her stomach, planted a foot and actually propelled herself forward a little.   The pediatrician joked and said "oh, she's ready to crawl."   We hope she was joking.

Sadie is also rolling to her right side, which thrills us, but also scares us a little about her sleeping.  Tighter swaddles await the not so little one.

And while we're talking about development, we finally got the approval for Grace's school!   The budding student is going to start hitting the books this Tuesday.  And we hope that's all she hits.

We might spend the entire next two days picking out the perfect "first day" outfit.

  1. Good luck on your first day Grace! Yes, when you don't have Down syndrome, you get chubby fast. Colin's baby nickname was butterball!

  2. Grace, I know you will enjoy your first day of school - seeing so many new things. You may not shed a tear but I bet Mommy and Daddy might!
