To The Heart, From The Heart

A note of thanks to Grace's heart:

A year ago today, you were working, but not very efficiently.  You needed a little help to get you going  in the right direction.

That's why, a year ago today, you were exposed to all the light, and the noise, and all the attention.   Even though you were only about the size of a strawberry, it was very important to us that you would be on your best behavior then and for the next hundred years or so.

You play an extremely vital role in a girl's life that depends on you.   We depend on you.

It hasn't always been easy.

Handing you over to the doctors, and trusting their expertise, was the hardest thing we've ever done.

Waiting for hours to get some word on how you were doing, and just how you would work for the rest of your life.

Continuous check-ups, as the cardiologist looks at your new functions, and seeing if you're taking advantage of everything the surgeon did for you.

Battle scars and all, we've been through a lot.

But we haven't been alone.  You have people all over the world praying for you, and sending you the best thoughts possible.

And the little girl that you call home says the biggest "Thank You".

We love you, Grace, and your perfect little heart.

  5. Happy Heart Day Miss Grace! Isn't it amazing how those scars fade to nearly nothing?! I think it's a little kid thing. My neighbor is 60 and had heart surgery the same month Josie did and has a substantially bigger scar. Kids are so relilient! Grace looks healthy and beautiful! You go girl!
