Tubes Times Two

Early this morning, Graceland made a quick little field trip back to the hospital.  It was time to get those little tubes put back into the ears.

Never fun to have surgery, but for our little hero, the hardest part was skipping breakfast.  She's not really a thumbsucker, but this morning, even a hint of last night's dinner left under the thumbnail is better than nothing.

Grace had a similar surgery last October, but things were a little different this time.  This time, Jenni got to go into the operating room while Grace went under the anesthesia.  Not the easiest thing for a mom to watch, but Jenni would do anything to make the Gracer more comfortable.

Also this time, Grace had longer tubes put into her eardrums.  The good news, we won't have to deal with this for another two years or so.  The bad news is that these types of tubes like to find a permanent home in the eardrum so they sometimes have to be surgically removed.  Two years of good hearing at such an important time in her speech development is worth the risk.

It only took about 25 minutes before we were able to see the sleeping beauty.  After waking up, it only took her a minute or so to smile and then it was: GIVE ME THE BOTTLE OR I'M KNOCKING SOMEONE OUT!!!

Grace was a little groggy after getting home, even with a little something in her stomach.

But a good two-hour plus nap helped recharge the batteries, and then it was off to playland.

Beep beep, off to my hearing test.
