With all the birthday celebrations fresh in our memories, it was time this week to head to the doctor office for Grace's one year checkup.
To make things a little more uncomfortable, this was our first visit with our new pediatrician because our previous, and beloved, doc decided she wanted to spend more time with her family. Where are her priorities??!?
We knew Grace was going to have four band-aids on her by the time the appointment was over....three vaccinations and a blood draw.
So we did anything we could to keep her entertained until the needles made their very unwelcome visit.
So here are the stats:
Grace weighs 19 lbs, 12 oz, which puts her at the 75th percentile for the girls with Down syndrome.
She is 29 inches, again at the 75th percentile.
But here's the big shocker...especially coming from two families with giant heads. Grace is only at the 5th percentile in head circumference. She's still growing into her ball caps for this year's baseball season.
Second big shocker - no blood draw! At least for now, as our new doc chats with Grace's endocrinologist to determine all labs to be done. Yes, we have to go back in the next couple of weeks for that, but this smile says she's just fine with the postponement.

Just looking at her tiny, newborn picture on the side, she's getting so big now. It goes by fast, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleterachel has a very small head. she's 2.5 and wears 12-18 month size hats. her 8 month old brother's head is already bigger than hers!
ReplyDeletegiant head families? (don't even like the giants). really? does anyone realize i cannot wear a baseball cap because of NOT having a big head? two girls took me out shopping for caps to prove me wrong and then laughed themselves silly. humbling memories. why do you think i have big hair? don't think we're the big head family. just sayin....
ReplyDeleteand...i did just fine with my not so giant head. love you gracer! smaller heads unite!

Grace - one year old! My how exciting that is! I like your birthday suit - it looks like the doctor was good to you also. The stethescope is quite a unique toy - hard to figure out. It won't be long until we will be playing with you in New York - can't wait - we might have to spoil you a little! xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteHi God's gift of Grace, A small head? Are you sure you're one of our family? I'll admit the new small heads family trend is off to a marvelous start! You are beautiful. We will see you in New York soon. I love you and Jesus loves you.
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping that Ben being just a little smaller than Grace won't eliminate him from her possible prom date list. She just will have to wear flats. Love that last picture of Grace - her smile makes me smile!
