How Do You Zoo?

An 85 degree Monday this week in New York could only mean one thing in Graceland. Time to go to the zoo. And this time we're stepping it up. After a couple of successful trial runs at the Central Park Zoo, it was off to the big leagues - the Bronx Zoo!

Stop one - the Children's Zoo. Grace is fearless when it comes to animals. She will stick her hands in the face of anything. We have several dogs in our building that can vouch for us. Cuz that's what dogs do. They vouch.

And goats are the perfect compliment for Grace, because they are fearless for anyone who has some goat chow in their hands. This big feller had no idea what he was getting into. Yes, the Gracer lures him in with her sweet charm, and big blue eyes.

Closer....closer. As soon as Billy is in reach...straight for the ears!

The word spreads quick among farm animals. Stay away from the cutie in the blue.

The sheep are always the first to know.

One of our favorite exhibits is the Congo Forest and we were excited to let Grace get up close and personal with the gorillas. And as this hulk of a silverback walked right in front of us, Grace was apparently more interested in looking at her reflection in the window.

The final stop was the Bug Carousel, because somebody thought kids would rather sit on giant insects instead of majestic Arabian horses. We picked the caterpillar, mainly because the two ladybugs were already spoken for.

Grace wasn't sure about this ride. She did like all the moving lights, and the music, but that up and down thing had her a little nervous, looking at daddy often for reassurance. "You got me, right?"

But she did manage to show off her newest skill, as mama asked Grace to blow her a kiss.

We'll be back to the zoo often.

So many more ears to yank. Hey lion, you're next!
