Mommy and Daddy got a "Night Out of Graceland Free" card Monday and took advantage by going to the land of peanuts and cracker jacks.
My San Francisco Giants were in town to play a double header against the Mets at CitiField. Grammy and Greenpa gave us two front row tickets last Christmas, which made the game that much sweeter.
It had always been a dream of mine to be that guy in the front row who just leans over from his seat and plucks a foul ball from the field. In the fifth inning of the second game, I got the chance.
Full disclosure, the ball hit the wall about two feet in front of me and bounced out of my reach so the ball boy tossed it to me. But it goes into the scorebook as a screaming line drive stabbed out of the air...bare-handed.
Also in the scorebook...a Giants sweep!
And as for our favorite little Giants fan...you have to admit she gave it her all to beg us to go to the game.
But it was late, and cold, and our first real date alone since she was born. Apologies to the babysitter for the constant texting. Yes, both of our phones were dead by the end of the night.
Don't worry, little slugger, we're all going to Yankee Stadium in June!

It kills me to say it....but, sweet Grace, you look pretty good in the black and orange! but don't give up on those Phillies just yet!

And D-man, great catch!!! Sorry to hear about the broken bones in your hand from that bullet foul ball. Luckily, you are married to a great physical therapist who can help you with the rehab. Whew!
ReplyDeleteGrace that is such a sweet picture of you even though you are not in phillies gear. No matter what you are wearing, you are so adorable love you! Go grace! Go phillies!
ReplyDeleteDear God's gift of Grace,
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting mom and dad have a sweetheart night out. I kept telling your Dad for him and your mom to take time to be sweet hearts. You don't know it yet but your parents love for each other is what gives you great security. Darren, did you go to both games? Front row seats via Aggie. She's awesome! I know you are glad you married her. Congrats on the foul ball and two huge Giant victories.
We will see you all in one week. We can't wait. I love you and Jesus loves you.
Hi Grace.
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty awesome! I'm glad you had such a good time.
ReplyDeleteYay for date night! Looks like you had fun.
