One of the most exciting thing about being a parent is finding the firsts...the first time your child smiles, the first time she holds her head up, etc. And if your child has Down Syndrome, somehow those accomplishments mean a little more. I imagine you'll hear a lot from us over the next few months about Grace's firsts. Here's one:
For awhile, Grace has been tracking things with her eyes, but her motor skills never allowed her to grab the things she wanted. You could place a toy or finger in her hands, and she will grab them, but she would never reach out for things. That all changed this week. Whether it's her favorite stuffed animal, a Grace-sized Big Bird, or her daddy's nose and chin, Grace is now reaching, and sometimes hitting with all her nine pounds of might. We could not be more proud.
