One And One Half

Today is a special day in Graceland, as we celebrate our little superhero's 18 month birthday.

Things sure have changed a lot lately as Grace gets more comfortable in her toddler role.

Just in time for Halloween, our jack-o-lantern has some nicely carved teeth.  And not even Nostradamus could  have predicted what order they would introduce themselves.  A top left molar here, a right bottom bicuspid there, throw in a front tooth or two.

And Grace's hearing is coming into its own, too.   Last week, she passed her first hearing test.  Yes, the tubes are working.  And yes, she even turned her head to sounds that these old man ears could barely hear.

With better hearing comes more talking.  She's figuring out that the sounds coming out of her mouth can replace some of the sign language she's learned.  She's getting somewhat consistent with "bye bye" and will get the "mmm" sound out for more.  She's also trying out consonants combinations that make her sound like the Hamburglar.

But most of all, she's just a ton of fun.  She loves people, and loves playing, and will be your best friend forever if you spend a little time sitting next to her, playing a little music or reading her a book.  She's everything you want when you envision your kid as soon as you find out you're expecting.
