Today was a big day in Graceland. We said hello to...solid food! We read plenty about what you should use for your baby's first food. Some say introduce grains first, like rice or oat, while others say soft fruits or veggies are the way to go. After much deliberation, we went with...the avocado. Not too sweet (we didn't want her to get into the "only bananas" mode), but not too bland, and with just enough texture to keep it exciting. OK, maybe we thought about it too much. So here's what was on the menu:
With all the necessary accessories in place (bib and hair bow), Grace was ready to answer the dinner bell. Grace is always good about opening her mouth when anything is in the lower face region (unless that something comes in a syringe) so she was really good about taking the spoon, even though it was filled with this foreign green goo.
She played with the avocado-milk mixture on her tongue (and her fingers) for a little bit before we heard the first swallow. Tasty? Not so sure.

Yum - excellent choice! (although Uncle Alec insists that steak would have been a better intro to solids) Looks like we'll need to order extra guac in the future!
ReplyDeleteAvocado is one of Vada's fav's! When we have Mexican we give her that, beans and tomatoes and she is one happy girl! Starting on solids can be quite an exciting ordeal, I hope you and Miss Grace enjoys the experience(s).
ReplyDeleteOne day it is mushed up green goo, the next day is a nice ice cream cone in one hand and a fist full of skittles in the other!!! woohoo. you are on your way.
