Pick up Sticks

Our Grace is six months old today - a whole half year! She started the day off with all of her favorites: rolling to the right, rolling to the left, smiling, and rolling to the right again. No cake just yet, but she did enjoy her first bites of rice cereal, which blends nicely with her Snow White complexion.

We went to the epileptologist today with hopes of being sent out the door with a pat on the back and advice to not overreact. Instead, we earned a 24-72 hour stay in the hospital for a prolonged video EEG to rule out infantile spasms or any other seizure activity. The doc was great and said that this is the only way we can be certain if she is having any seizures. Her history, along with the video we took of her a couple weeks ago, was enough to warrant the test. He said there are many other things that could explain her movements, so this test will clarify. The good news is that she looked good on exam and she is not presenting in the typical pattern for infantile spasms - so here's hoping that this test is negative and we can cross this specialist off our list of people to see.

Grace, life is better than we ever could have imagined with you in it. Here's to many more half-years!
