During my pregnancy with Grace, Darren and I opted to not find out the sex of the baby. At the start, I was sure we were having a girl. As the pregnancy progressed, we started to think it might be a boy. In fact, Darren kept a secret that he thought he saw some boy parts during one of the ultrasounds. Not only was I "carrying like a boy", but 3 doctors/techs slipped and said or wrote "he" during one of our many visits. To be safe, we chose a very neutral nursery look. While her room was sweet, and peaceful, it was missing some personality.
We got away with the peaceful vibe during her heart surgery and recovery, but now the bare walls were in desperate need of some charisma to match that of its inhabitant. We've added a few things, but the latest, and biggest, addition is the tree decal. What a great find (thanks, Etsy) and a project that can make even the least creative feel artistic!
On more than one occasion, we've seen Grace staring up at the tree, maybe imagining where the leaves are going, or hearing in her head the songs of the birds.
Grace, you are part of a bigger tree now. A big family tree that spreads from coast to coast. And we're all so excited to see your branches grow big and strong.

Grace, we are so glad you are part of our family tree - we will all grow together...
