"Getting any sleep?"
It's the first question most people ask you when you tell them you're new parents.
But I've got to tell you. We must be two of the luckiest people in the world, because from early on, Grace has been so great about sleeping at night. Sure, her little belly alarm clock would go off every couple of hours to tell her it was time to wake up the feeding station again, who looked so comfortable snuggling her three pillows a couple of feet away.
We were hoping things wouldn't change when we decided this week to finally let Grace explore the joys of having her own room. That's right...out of the bassinet and into the crib. She's been taking naps in her crib for the past few weeks, but we knew moving her for the long nighttime snooze might change her habit of sleeping at least 8 straight hours. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. And it had to happen eventually...or else we'd wake up one morning to a teenager stuffed into her pack and play.
And how did she do?
The smile says it all. Yes, she still gets up around 4 or 5 in the morning for a quick feed to top off the tank, but then it's back to sleep for an hour or two. And while it's been a little adjustment for us, not hearing the tiny breaths nearby all night, there is tremendous reward to find her endearing face greeting you like the morning sun.
Yes, she loves it. From the room-darkening blinds to the mobile that hangs above, Grace has found her nursery the perfect place to unwind after her stress-filled days of tummy time, rolling to her side and trying to beat the heat.

awww I am so proud of you! John wants to move Lydia to her room but her room is on the other side of the house.....separated by the hallway, living room and kitchen. Plus she will be sharing with her 6 yr old brother who is VERY loud and VERY touchy feely with her constantly. Makes me a nervous wreck. When she's too big for the bassinet (we're getting there!) the pack and play will be her new bed at least until she's big enough to scream louder or defend herself. lol
ReplyDeleteThat's a Green girl cozy bed smile if I ever saw one! Has she learned to kick the sheets yet?
ReplyDeleteGramdma says, "Just think, you have the room all to yourself - what a big girl!"
ReplyDeleteLet me know when she is ready for a sleep over party!!!
ReplyDeletePrayers for Sweet Grace, her parents, all her family and friends and for her doctors and nurses.
ReplyDeleteGod love and bless Grace!
